The trailer of Te3n was released recently with much-acclaim, mainly due to the gritty feel of it as well as the strong cast of Amitabh Bachchan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Vidya Balan making heads turn. The dark and gripping trailer tells us the story of a man whose granddaughter died in a tragic kidnapping incident. The movie has something of a deja vu like feel to Sujoy Ghosh’s ‘Kahaani‘, which also starred Balan and Siddiqui. However, there is a strong sense of resemblance of the whole set-up and story to one of the popular Korean film which was released a few years back, titled “Montage“. Have a look at the two trailers and decide for yourself:
Trailer of Montage (Korean with English subs):
In ‘Montage‘, fifteen years after an unsolved kidnapping case, another kidnapping takes place using the same method on a similar target. Three people team up to solve the case: the grandfather, who lost his granddaughter right in front of him, the mother, who has been searching for the person who abducted her daughter fifteen years ago, and the detective with a guilty conscience, who puts everything into this long-unsolved case. Sounds similar to Te3n right?! I saw Montage last year and loved it! I hope Te3n is not just a rehash, which would be disappointing. We don’t want another Mohit Suri like director who just blatantly copies Korean films.
