I truly regret not having watched this movie last month in Theaters
Now that I have watched it on Amazon, I wish I could go back in time to experience it on a big screen
So I will attempt unraveling that unusual wish I just made
Firstly, what doesn’t work?
- There is hardly anything not to like about on this one
- I think 10 to 15 minutes could have been lopped off
- Trimming it down further could have made it more Compact, however that’s an afterthought
What works?
Everything!
- I literally meant that, everything
- This movie is an experiment
- One that has been done right
- IT ALSO ENTERTAINS, while EXPERIMENTING
- There is oodles of energy dripping off every scene
- The above statement is both, literal & figurative
- There are loads metaphors at play out here
- The narrative is razor sharp and stays focused on a collective
- The movie begins with the humdrum of day to day lives
- The score by Prashant Pillai introduces us to sounds that are absurd when they are up close & personal
- But, look at them from afar and you realize: This is Business As Usual
- If the Score wasn’t enough, then deal with Renganaath Ravee’s sound design
- Immaculate, Zany and Totally Immersive – Apt
- A heady screen play ensures there is no time to breathe
- While racing ahead full steam, this narrative focuses on a collective rather than individuals
- Armed with this ploy, Lijo Jose Pellissery is able to draw out all sorts of allusions that he wants to thrust in our faces
- He manages that quite successfully as the lines between Human and Beast blurs quite often
- Most often, this line ceases to exist
- Stating the above is almost a shame(if you get the connotation)
- The Cinematography by Girish Gangadharan captures all the actions in exquisite frames
Even at times, when nothing is happening the energy still stays!
- These are traits of Geniuses at play, trying to thrill us with inertia
- The Performances majorly by Antony Varghese, Chemban Vinod Jose and Sabumon Abdusamad are bang on target
- These 3 characters hold the Collective Narrative together
The Climax is breath taking for 2 reasons:
- For the way it has been shot!
- And, it will definitely put you off Humanity altogether
- Once you reach the closing scenes, one thing is assured
- The sounds at the start of the movie will come playing back in your heads
The Verdict?
Although we might have missed Jallikattu in Theaters, this definitely deserves a Viewing
I urge all you Movie Lovers:
For the Love of Cinema, please DO NOT MISS THIS ONE!
If you want to learn what Experimentation is all about, please catch this one SOON…
P.S: The title of the movie shouldn’t mislead us to the Traditional Sport
Let’s Run amok and witness a High of A Visual Paced Delight
